our motivation
Five Facts on Neglected Tropical Diseases
1. Over 1 billion people (approximately 1/6th of the world's population) suffer from one or more NTDs (WHO)
2. The global burden of NTDs is estimated to be at least half of the combined global burden of the Big 3 (HIV/AIDS,TB and Malaria) (Global Network)
3. Research attests controlling NTDs would significantly reduce both malaria morbidity and mortality, and HIV/AIDS transmission (Global Network)
4. Most NTDs can be prevented and even eliminated. They thrive due to dirty water, poor sanitation, and limited access to basic health care (WHO)
5. As such, NTDs affect the poorest & by debilitating, deforming, blinding & killing, trap them into a cycle of poverty (Global Network)
