The seventh edition of the UCLU Medsin 'Perspectives' magazine is focused on the topic of Gender Equity, in association with our very own Gender Equity Campaign. Whether you are thinking ‘Why Gender Equity?’ or ‘I know everything there is to know on Gender Equity’; this issue has something to offer you.

Perspectives is back! This edition is being released in our UCLU Medsin Stop AIDS Week 2010, and includes a variety of articles on the topic of HIV and AIDS. "Setting the Record Straight" gives you an introduction to the topic, and you can ponder further with an article on HIV policy and an interview with Heidi Larson, Executive Director of aids2031.

In this issue we discuss some often neglected areas of Global Health and attempt to understand why they have been forgotten and what is being done to better the situation. Alisha Allana focuses on mental illness, an issue that is often forgotten when discussing global health issues. Annabel Sowemimo discusses the dangers of counterfeit drugs and illegal drug use in her article “Do you want the real or the fake one?”. We also bring you a wide range of topics from the Women’s Health section to the rise of incommunicable diseases as addressed by Martin Everson in his article Diabetes in developing countries.
