positions in the team
1. Core Editors
(-) LESS
This role requires time and dedication but shall be very rewarding. Roles include writing articles regularly, looking into fundraising and printing of the magazine and helping to put the magazine together once articles have been submitted to us. Publicity of the magazine is another key role. This team will need to meet regularly to discuss the magazine.
2. Section Editors
(-) LESS
This role involves working with the core team of editors and writers to ensure specific sections of the magazine are coming together. Will involve writing regularly for particular sections of each issue.
Ideal role for someone who wants to get actively involved with magazine but cannot devote the time required to be a core editor. Specific sections are likely to include a current affairs section, Global Health events section, Medsin campaigns and projects section and a letters section. For more information on sections please email us.
3. Part-time Writers
(-) LESS
We need several part-time writers to write occasional articles for the magazine whenever they have some free time. Writers will receive some guidance on what to write but essentially any global health issue can be covered.
Ideal role for those who are short of time but want to contribute to the magazine.
4. Art/Design/Photography Editors
(-) LESS
We need people to give an artistic input into the magazine to make it look presentable and pleasing on the eye! This role will also involve incorporating photographs into the magazine and designing the front cover.
These editors are able to write articles if they wish but the main focus is on the art and design of every issue. Ideal role for an art/photography-minded student though anyone can take up this role.
5. Proofreaders
(-) LESS
We need a large team of proofreaders who are able to read over articles submitted and give constructive feedback to help improve the articles. Proofreaders are responsible for deciding which articles are included in the magazine.
Ideal role for someone with limited time available but who would like to contribute to the magazine. Proof readers are also able to write articles if they wish.
6. Publicity
(-) LESS
Publicity of the magazine is very important. We want to promote the magazine to as many UCL students and lecturers as possible.
I need people who are enthusiastic about the potential of the magazine and want to promote it. Role involves putting up posters in various departments, giving lecture shout-outs about magazine, getting in touch with lecturers at UCL to raise profile of magazine. It would also be great if we can contact one or two famous people to write for magazine
7. Fundraising
(-) LESS
This is a vital role. Without money to cover the printing costs of the magazine, the magazine will be ruined! The main form of fundraising will be to get sponsors to advertise in our magazine. We need people to send emails to companies asking for sponsorship. You can even meet with company employees in person and discuss sponsorship.
ALL the roles outlined can involve writing articles (if you wish to) but some roles require more time commitment than others so please only commit to a role you feel you are able to do justice to. For more information or to express an interest in a particular role please email
