what is medsin ucl?
People are often a little unsure about what exactly Medsin is. In short, we are a group of students who feel passionate about inequities in health both globally and in the UK. Hopefully this section clears things up a little but if you have any more questions then don’t hesitate to email us at medsin.ucl@googlemail.com or ask a question on the Facebook Group. We’re more than happy to hear from you.
our aims
1. Campaigning
Campaigning and advocacy on specific issues forms a large part of Medsin’s activities. Besides campaigns on Malaria, Stop AIDs, Fair Trade and Water, Medsin UCL is involved in the Global Health Advocacy Project. Medsin’s Global Health Advocacy Project is concerned with undertaking, encouraging and facilitating campaigning by Medsin members on the issues that they feel strongly about. Click here to find out more about our campaigns.
2. Shared learning
At Medsin UCL our members will interact with students from different geographical, cultural and academic backgrounds to increase our understanding of important issues in international health. We have good links with several institutions and NGOs, but in particular this year, we want to engage directly with students from developing countries, many of whom will have first-hand experience of important issues and invaluable perspectives. Through this collaboration of perspectives, intellects and access to information we believe that our members can dramatically increase their understanding of these complex issues and to inform our campaigns and make us more reflective in our attitudes to policy. In the course of this year we also aim to hold awareness-raising events that will also engage with the wider student population. Go to our events section to find out more!
3. Our projects
Medsin-UCL runs many projects in the local community and in developing countries, which cover a range of issues. Get involved by joining trips to the Ghana, running for charity or educating teenagers on sexual health. Medsin makes a real contribution to the community.
